Participating in the United Nations CSW69 has been an incredible highlight of my year. Engaging in discussions focused on creating a world of endless opportunities for women has been truly motivating. The connections made with change-makers at grassroots and policy levels, as well as the meaningful friendships forged, have been invaluable. The dialogue sessions were exceptionally enlightening, with speakers addressing pivotal points. One crucial aspect highlighted was the necessity to shift the mindset that restricts certain roles to men and excludes women. Additionally, there was emphasis on the importance of empowering youth and women to venture into green energy businesses, stressing the lack of comprehensive training and support for those in sub-Saharan Africa. Discussion also revolved around barriers hindering energy transition, such as inadequate funding, gender stereotypes, affordability issues, and limited accessibility. Education on financial literacy, entrepreneurship management, and renewable energy technology was underscored as essential by another speaker. Furthermore, there was a strong emphasis on setting women and youth on a trajectory towards success by instilling values that enable them to scale up, become employers, and maximize available opportunities. This experience has been truly enlightening. Here's to advocating for rights, equality, and empowerment for all women and girls.
